What’s the parking situation like? Is there any point trying to drive in or should I try taking the train?

When are you going there? From what time?

If yo uarrive in the evening around 5pm on friday and plan to stay the whole week end, park you car here:

You can’t see it on the street view but parking is free all week end there from friday 5pm all the way to monday morning. It was my dedicated parking spot when I would spend week ends in NYC and it is a 10 minutes walk away from the Javits Center...

It is better to plan your week end so that you arrive at 5pm to get your car on that street though. if you arrive saturday for exemple, you might get screwed and may not find spots...

If you drive there is sometimes street parking 15 min walks away but chances are you'll end up at a lot for $40

Probably won’t work. I’m going on a sunday for the auto show.

Actually it’s from 6pm as you can see on this sign... You are not allowed to park there during the day, monday to friday only. So if you arrive on that street at 5.45pm on a friday and wait a little bit, you get to park your car for free during the whole week end, everytime.

If you arrive fairly early on sunday morning (like 7am or so), you have fairly good chances of getting a spot there really...

Train. You’ll find a spot if you go early, but the rates are high. Since it’s event parking, a garage would usually cost 30+ dollars for 3 hours (I drove in one year).

My go to garage is on 42nd between 10th and 11th. On google maps it's the big white bubble. You park yourself, it's roughly 9 blocks away so walking is fast and a taxi is maybe $6. Parking is maybe $30 but you can even come and go as you please which is nice to leave stuff.

Kind of depends where you’re coming from. I plan on going next weekend and parking a Secaucus Junction and taking NJ Transit in. Trains a pretty frequent and it's 10 bucks to park for 12 hours on the weekend then 4.50 each way for the train.

TRAIN! We used to street-park, but in 2014 we received some BS fine that ended up costing $200. Plus, train is extremely convenient. No traffic. Only reason why we’re driving this year is because we have to service our car, and that essentially gives us free parking.

Take the train. I mean, I'm going from Long Island through Mineola so it might not be best for you, but probably take the train

You want to take the train. Traffic won’t be bad on a Sunday, but you still don’t want to pay parking plus bridge/tunnel tolls, when the train will be faster anyway.
